Weirdos, groupies, wanna-bes and socialites throng Miss Tourism Zim

on

dsc01412The recently held Miss Tourism Zimbabwe at the Harare International Conference Centre lived up to its billing and among the glitterati was a cross section of Harare’s society.

There were those who have made it, those who are still trying to make it and some who may never make it in life.

A snap survey by Gemnation, revealed that besides the rented crowd presumably the school children and youths from various provinces that were bused in to cheer on the contestants, there were porn stars, weirdos, groupies, wanna bes and socialites who paid their way to be part of the colourful crowd.

Notable among the hundreds of fans, was Simba Chikoore, yes, President Mugabe’s son-in-law who came in tow with his wife Bona.

Simba should be singing Casper Nyovest’s song ‘Mama I Made It’ because after getting married to Bona he was blessed with a son then he landed the big one — he was picked as COO of Air Zimbabwe. Phew!

dsc01412Dressed like a prince, Simba cheered on the contestants and enjoyed himself to the fullest.

Somewhere in the VIP there was the unmistakable Pokello Nare, the reality TV starlet who before joining Big Brother she was famed for the sextape that features rapper Stunner Da Des.

With her battered image, Pokello then found love while in the house and got married to fellow housemate — Elikem Kormodzie, a Ghanaian tailor.

There is no doubt that Tich Mawoni is fluent in queen’s language but one wonders why the organisers chose him instead of the real Tich Mataz.

Gemnation understands that the revered Tich the ‘Midas Touch’ was dropped at the last minute for fear of comprising the Miss Tourism Zimbabwe brand.

To some people, Tich Mataz’s tainted past continues to haunt him and for some reason the powers-that be at Miss Tourism Zimbabwe thought it would affect their brand.

dsc01436 But now, Mawoni is not Mataz and this is where you feel pity for the ‘Midas Touch’ because everything he touches now turns rusty.

No matter how much Mawoni tries to wax lyrical he can never match Mataz.

Judith Makwanya, the ZBCTV correspondent is not much of an extrovert unless she’s going on a business trip but she found time out to join the nation at the pageant.

There were several socialites who call themselves self-employed on their Facebook profiles.

With all due respect Gemnation could not help but notice the presence of Jackie Tinovimbika Ngarande, Sibusisiwe Dube, Ruvheneko Parirenyatwa, Connie Moyo, Shuvai Murumbi, Kudzai Violet Gwara and Michelle Makanza to mention a few.

On the weirdos side it should be an easy one since Busiswa shocked us when he invited dancers on stage. The dancers set the stage alight but at the same time had everyone asking about their sexuality.

Need we say more!
