Tourism and Hospitality Industry Dr Walter Mzembi yesterday called on Government to let people decide on whether or not to use bond notes.

Dr Mzembi threw his weight behind the incumbent introduction of the bond notes but warned that the Government should not over emphasise its worth.

“What’s the fuss, if it (bond notes) is going to buy for me I will use it, and if it buys for you then you will use it.

“I don’t see why we persuade people to use it especially that we have a multicurrency already,” Dr Mzembi said.

He was speaking at a dinner held in Harare to fundraise for the Childline as part of the Miss Tourism Zimbabwe pageant scheduled to tonight at the Harare International Conference Centre.

Dr Mzembi who is Africa’s choice to take over the UNWTO top post which falls vacant in May next year, said he was confident of winning.

“I do not run to lose, I run to win,” he said to wild applause.

Among the guests that attended the function were South African businesspeople including Zimbabwe’s own Justice Maphosa of Bigtime Strategic Group, an IT giant company that injected cash into the Miss Tourism Zimbabwe pageant.
