Tired of being told to stay away from drugs, a Midlands State University student fatally stabbed his mom in cold blood.

Emmanuel Chiota was yesterday hauled before Magistrate Mrs Vongai Muchuchuti-Guwuriro charged with murder.

The 22-year-old suspect of number 7403 in Kuwadzana was remanded in custody to the first week of December.

Magistrate Muchuchuti-Guwuriro advised the suspect to apply for bail at the High Court.

Prosecutor Mr Peter Kachirika told the court that while at home on November 20 the deceased and her husband, Bodimen Chiota told their son against drugs.

Mr Chiota left the house and sought help from church leaders during which time the accused in a fit of rage, attacked the mother with a wooden stool.

The mother sought refuge in the bedroom but the accused was in hot pursuit.

While in the bedroom the accused grabbed a pair of scissors and fatally stabbed her on the neck.

Upon the father’s return he saw the accused’s clothes stained with blood.

A police report was made leading to the arrest of the suspect.
